Man United ready to make move for player with ‘temperament’, Mourinho…

first_imgManchester United manager Jose Mourinho has decided to bring in a new central defender to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window. Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld and Inter Milan star Milan Škriniar have been widely discussed over the last few weeks. If reports from Italian publication Premium Sport are to be believed, AC Milan defender Leonardo Bonucci is the new name linked with the Red Devils.Bonucci moved to the San Siro after leaving Juventus in 2017. The Premier League outfit are ready to make a move for the Italian international, according to Premium Sport’s ‘market expert’ Claudio Raimondi.Mourinho has set his sights on bringing a centre-back who has ‘temperament’ to strengthen his side’s back four, and the 31 year old has been identified.Milan failed to comply with Uefa’s Financial Fair Play regulations and this could mean they will miss out on the European competition for a year.Embed from Getty ImagesIt’s suggested this is driving Manchester United’s hope of signing Bonucci, but Milan plan to appeal against any sanction.Mourinho is hoping to use the lack of European football to United’s advantage in convincing Bonucci to ‘change his mind’.by Taboolaby TaboolaSponsored LinksSponsored LinksPromoted LinksPromoted LinksTrending TodayForge of Empires – Free Online GameChallenge Your Brain With This Must-Play Strategy Game. “Obviously one always aspires to more” – Player coy on future…

first_imgSeveral reports across the last month have suggested that City, who spend most of their time hoovering up talent from around the world, were targeting the 22-year-old.He’s impressed with River Plate this season and one report suggested that he was ‘very close to leaving’ for the Etihad, with another insisting ‘advanced negotiations’ were underway. That has since been rubbished, as TNT journalist Nicolás Distasio claimed that any talk of a £25m bid were very much wide of the mark.Embed from Getty ImagesAnd it seems the midfielder is positively not thinking about it at this moment in time, insisting he is only focused on River when explicitly asked about the Manchester City rumours.“My head is in River, in tomorrow’s game,” he told TNT Sports.“Then, I’ll be on vacation with my family and on January 2, we start with the whole preseason.“I am very calm, happy and satisfied. I found a very comfortable place in the club (River). Obviously one always aspires to more, but today I am very calm in River, and I feel happy.”While hardly a come and get me plea, that last line about aspiring to more should certainly have Manchester City interested. It shows the player is already thinking about the next step and moving to the Etihad would undoubtedly represent an upward trajectory.by Taboolaby TaboolaSponsored LinksSponsored LinksPromoted LinksPromoted LinksTrending TodayForge of Empires – Free Online GameIf You Like to Play, this City-Building Game is a Must-Have. Yankees injury update: Gio Urshela heads to IL as Luke Voit returns

first_imgVoit’s readiness after spending a month on IL due to a sports hernia may have had something to do with that. The Yankees will hope the first baseman’s return balances out the power lost in Urshela’s absence. Voit has 19 home runs and a .885 OPS in 94 games this season, while Urshela has contributed 18 homers and a .924 OPS in 114 games for an offense averaging 5.86 runs per game — just behind the Twins (5.88) for the most in the majors.  The Yankees’ season-long injury carousel just keeps spinning. New York on Friday announced it has placed Gio Urshela on the 10-day injured list with a left groin injury and reinstated Luke Voit from the IL.  Urshela left Thursday’s game against the Mariners in the fifth inning after experiencing tightness. Manager Aaron Boone told reporters afterward that the move was precautionary — “We wanted to be safe with that, and hopefully it’s something that is not a big deal,” he said, via MLB.com.His third baseman was similarly  optimistic, predicting to reporters that he would be back in the lineup Friday against Oakland. Instead, he faces at least a week and a half on the shelf, with the Yankees feeling compelled to make the move even though rosters expand Sunday.  Related News Yankees will ‘probably’ call up Clint Frazier when rosters expand, Aaron Boone sayscenter_img Cubs activate left-hander Cole Hamels from paternity list This despite a never-ending stream of injuries that shows no signs of letting up. Urshela is the 29th different Yankees player to land on the injured list this season, a new MLB record. DJ LeMahieu figures to slide over to third base in Urshela’s absence, with Gleyber Torres playing second.last_img read more
