A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona(ATSU-SOMA) invites applications for a full-time faculty positionin the Department of Clinical Science Medicine. This is a full-timeacademic teaching position. Applicants must be an MD or DO,board-certified in Family Medicine or other primary carespecialties with the ability to obtain an Arizona medicallicense.ATSU-SOMA’s model of education is designed to train future primarycare physicians who will work with underserved communities byplacing them in community health centers for a large portion oftheir education. Students, Faculty and Staff at ATSU-SOMA arecompassionate and have a drive for working with the underserved.Working at ATSU-SOMA provides an opportunity to teach using avariety of interactive methodologies, and the position provides anopportunity to express creativity in many facets includingteaching, curriculum development, and student assessment. ATSU-SOMAfaculty members collaborate with each other by serving oncommittees, interviewing student applicants, advising students, andin their research or other scholarly activity.Job Duties:Faculty will contribute to ATSU-SOMA in the areas of educatingstudents in years 1-4, scholarly activity, diversity, equity andinclusion, and service to the University and community.Attend to regular communications as it relates to all positionresponsibilities.Provide objective input on a diversity of perspectives.Create and provide osteopathic medical student years I-IVeducational content that integrates foundational, clinical, andosteopathic sciences in a variety of online and live presentations,which includes podcasts, small group case discussions, andlaboratory sessions for either Medical Skills or OPP.Facilitate small group active learning sessions.Create NBOME board-style examination items.Serve on ATSU-SOMA committees (ex: Admissions, DiversityCommittee, Student Performance, and Curriculum).If desired, may use half-day per week for activity related topatient care in an alternate clinical setting of candidate’s choicewhile providing shadowing opportunities for students.Interview ATSU-SOMA candidates for admission.Perform student advising functions.Participate in research as deemed appropriate by the DepartmentChair.Other functions supporting the department and its contributionto the mission and vision of ATSU-SOMA. Candidates must possess a strong commitment to innovation,collaboration, and professional development. Necessary skillsinclude proficiency with Microsoft Office and email and an interestin learning other technology used in education.
