The little team that could.  After knocking off their second number one seed in a week, the Peebles Lady Indians are one win away from reaching the state Final Four in Division IV girls basketball. The latest Goliath to fall victim to the Lady Indians was number one seed and state ranked Portsmouth Notre Dame.  The Lady Titans came into the Thursday, March 7 match up at Jackson High School with just one loss on the season, but the “no fear” Lady Indians didn’t let that bother them one bit, taking it to Notre Dame from start to finish and pulling off their second consecutive major upset, using some clutch late free throws to hang on for the 46-42 victory. The win propelled Coach Billie Jo Justice and her squad into the Elite Eight and a regional championship game on Saturday, March 9 at Pickerington North High School.   The Lady Indians (19-7) will face the Shadyside Lady Tigers (23-4) for the right to advance to the Final Four in Columbus.Tip off for Saturday night is set for 7:30 p.m.Be sure to look for complete reports and photos of the Peebles tourney trek in the sports pages of upcoming issues of The People’s Defender.
