We Love Our EMS

first_img“This is really about thanking our community for supporting all the people who are keeping us going,” said Terri Kane of Card My Yard, the sign company. ROCHESTER, NY — Brighton Volunteer Ambulance (BVA) often receives notes of appreciation from patients or their families after they transport them to the hospital. In this instance, BVA got a different kind of note, courtesy of a local doctor, that was not a patient. “It’s phenomenal,” said Dennis Mietz, president of Brighton Volunteer Ambulance. “To see somebody in the community recognizing what we do is a great feeling.” Dr. Bryce Yerman, M.D., a emergency physcian at University of Rochester Medical Center – Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester NY wanted to say thank you to local First Responders. He had this sign erected in front of Brighton Volunteer Ambulance (NY) to get his message across. “It’s not just the doctors. It’s also the first responders here and across Monroe County,” he thought. He wanted them to know just how much they’re appreciated. “We’re very proud of the EMTs and the services they’re providing. They’re on the front lines, in the trenches.” Brighton Volunteer Ambulance EMT’s in the photo are (L to R) Angela Daley and Polymnia Triantafilou. (Photo/Michael E. Pollock, BVA) Dr. Bryce Yermen, MD, a Brighton town resident and an emergency physician at the University of Rochester – Strong Memorial Hospital got the idea after he saw a “thank you” sign put up for a local doctor by an out-of-state doctor thanking him for his service during the coronavirus pandemic.last_img read more

Inflammatory statements on GECOM stalemate must be rejected

first_imgDear Editor,The Indian Action Committee (IAC) rejects any attempt to instigate a racially charged atmosphere regarding the current stalemate over the selection of the Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM).We urge groups and persons to refrain from engaging in race hate and polarising campaigns to support their respective positions. This will not help the cause of national unity, nor will it allow an environment for meaningful dialogue. Our ethnic relations situation is too fragile for any extreme, irresponsible and reckless behaviour and statements.  We call on civil society, political leaders, the media and the international community to reject and rebuff any effort at instigation and making inflammatory statements. This type of behaviour once again necessitates the urgent establishment of the Ethnic Relations Commission. The IAC urges responsible statements and conduct, and absolute respect for the Constitution and due process in our land.Yours sincerely,Indian ActionCommitteelast_img read more
