first_imgAUBURN — Former Auburn coach Tony Barbee will reportedly meeting with Nevada regarding its head coaching reported Barbee, who is currently serving as “special assistant to the head coach” under mentor John Calipari at Kentucky, will meet with Nevada “earlier in the week” to discuss its position.Barbee, who was fired following Auburn’s loss in the first round of the 2014 SEC Tournament, is owed the remainder of an approximately $2.4 million buyout through June 2017, less any compensation he earns over that period.Auburn went 49-75 under Barbee, the worst four-year stretch for the program since 1971-74, and experienced the program’s worst single-season stretch, worst SEC losing streak, no wins over ranked opponents, and a 2-6 mark against Alabama.Barbee’s historically poor tenure came despite having a recruiting budget that topped the SEC in 2012-13 and was among the highest in the country.Including his previous stint at UTEP, Barbee’s career record is 131-126, with one NCAA Tournament appearance while with the Miners.last_img
