Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea: Reds players rated and slated

first_img 13 James Milner – 6 – A fairly quiet game on the fringes and then superbly provided the header to set up Georginio Wijnaldum’s equaliser. Substitute: Divock Origi – N/A – The Belgian wasn’t on long enough to be rated. 13 13 13 Jordan Henderson – 6 – Patrolled the middle of the park well, despite an early booking. He also put in a superb tackle when Diego Costa had been put through by Cesc Fabregas late on 13 13 13 Joel Matip – 6 – Looked to be enjoying his tussle with Diego Costa but then gave away a penalty when foolishly dangling his leg out. 13 In a huge top of the table battle at Anfield, Liverpool drew 1-1 with Premier League leaders Chelsea.The Blues had gone ahead through David Luiz, when he caught out Simon Mignolet with a long-range free-kick.Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum equalised for the Reds in the second half.Goalkeeper Mignolet then turned out to be the hero for Jurgen Klopp’s side as he saved a penalty from Diego Costa to ensure the spoils were shared.But how did we rate Liverpool’s stars? Click the right arrow above to see what we thought… 13 Roberto Firmino – 4 – Always a nuisance but wasn’t much of a presence in the box as Liverpool moved the ball forward. His miss five minutes after the break was truly awful and could have been more costly without Mignolet’s penalty save. 13 Georginio Wijnaldum – 7 – The Dutchman had a decent strike in the first period which made Thibaut Courtois work, while he also his defensive duties well with a couple of neat tackles. Deserved to score the equalising goal in a good display all-round. Adam Lallana – 6 – Was a constant menace but it wasn’t until just before the hour mark he was able to truly give Chelsea a headache. His ball to James Milner for the Reds’ equaliser was a peach. Nathaniel Clyne – 6 – Did well on his return to the first-team against such tough competition and stopped Eden Hazard from causing too much trouble. Substitute: Sadio Mane – 5 – Wasn’t on the pitch long enough to really create much, and saw an opportunity curtailed by a handball in the box. He then earned full redemption with his penalty save from Diego Costa. 13 Philippe Coutinho – 6 – The Brazilian made some superb touches to play in team-mates and linked well with James Milner when the left-back got forward. 13 13 Emre Can – 6 – Didn’t keep possession well enough and as a result couldn’t contribute much as the Reds attempted to haul themselves back into the game. Dejan Lovren – 6 – Solid enough, and didn’t too a lot wrong. His urge to shoot from long-range is an irritant, though. last_img
