first_imgGetting from point A to point B is a breeze in Philadelphia, thanks in part to the popular Philadelphia PHLASH Downtown Loop.The purple bus service is back from March 29 to December 30 (on select dates) to transport residents and visitors all across the city with ease.PHLASH, which is operated by the Independence Visitor Center, picks up and drops off residents and visitors at each stop roughly every 15 minutes between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.Read on for more details about free rides, the route, the schedule and ticket prices for 2018.Free PHLASH Rides on Thursday, March 29For opening day only, it’s not just affordable to ride the PHLASH — it’s free!PHLASH is offering free rides this Thursday, March 29, to kick off its 2018 season. Residents and visitors can either visit the Independence Visitor Center (6th and Market streets) or City Hall Visitor Center (15th and Market streets) to pick up a free pass for the day or just hop aboard at any of the PHLASH’s stops and get to where they’re going free of charge. PHLASH RouteFor the 2018 season, the PHLASH has added two new stops to its route: one in front of The Franklin Institute, and another that’s just two blocks from the Mütter Museum.Other stops are located near Penn’s Landing, the National Museum of Jewish American History, the Barnes Foundation, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Rodin Museum, the Perelman Building, Eastern State Penitentiary, the National Constitution Center, the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Reading Terminal Market, the Shops at Liberty Place, the Please Touch Museum, the Philadelphia Zoo, One Liberty Observation Deck and the Museum of the American Revolution. Fusco for Visit Philadelphia) The PHLASH offers quick and inexpensive transit service to popular attractions across Philadelphia.While the Philadelphia Zoo and Please Touch Museum are still accessible via the PHLASH route, note that these stops are not numbered this year, and getting to these locations requires transferring to the Philadelphia Zoo and Please Touch Museum Loop shuttle at the stop outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art.For more details about the 2018 route, refer to the official PHLASH map.Schedule, Tickets and FeesAs mentioned, PHLASH rides this Thursday, March 29, are free! Moving forward, rides between March 30 and December 30 are $2 per person per ride or $5 for an all-day pass. Children four and under and seniors always ride free.The PHLASH’s service schedule varies throughout the calendar year. From March 29 through April 29, PHLASH operates only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.Daily service runs from May 1 through September 3. Weekend service (Friday through Sunday) will resume again from September 7 through November 18.Daily service returns once more for the holiday season, from November 23 through December 30.
